We ask for your email address and nothing else. No name, no country, no “how did you hear about us”. If a field is not necessary to send you the thing you asked for, it should not be on the form.

You are not subscribed until you confirm
Entering your address here does not put you on a list. It starts a three-step process, and the second step is you proving the address is yours.

You enter your address here and tick the box. Nothing is sent to you yet and you are not on any list.

We email you one message with a confirmation link. If you never asked for this — someone else typed your address — ignore it and nothing further happens.

You click the link. Only at that point does your address join the list, and we record when you confirmed and what wording you agreed to.
This is called double opt-in. It exists so that nobody can sign you up for something you never asked for, and so that we can show, if we are ever asked, that you chose this rather than that we assumed it.

What we are promising
What you get
What the money actually did, what we got wrong, and what changed because of it. The same figures that appear in our public ledger, written so you do not have to read a ledger.
What you will not get
No urgency theatre, no countdowns, no “children will die if you do not act today”. If a message would only work by making you feel guilty, we do not send it.
How often
Rarely. We would rather send four honest letters a year than twelve that exist to keep our name in your inbox.
Who else sees your address
Nobody. It is never sold, never swapped, never lent to another organisation, and never used to build a profile of you.

Signing up is not donating
These are separate and we keep them separate. Joining this list does not ask you for money, does not create a donor record, and does not start anything you have to cancel later.
The reverse holds too: making a donation does not put you on this list. If you have given and want the letters as well, you have to ask for them here.

Leaving
Every message we send carries an unsubscribe link, and it works in one click without asking you why. You can also write to us, or use the unsubscribe page.
When you leave we keep your address on a suppression list — the minimum needed to make sure nothing adds you back later. That page explains what that means and how to have it removed entirely.

What is still open
No email provider is chosen.
Until one is, this form cannot send anything and is disabled rather than pretending to work.
Our privacy policy is not published yet.
Consent to receive email should link to a document explaining what happens to the address. That document does not exist yet, so this page says so instead of linking to nothing.

There is no archive of past letters to show you, because there are none. When there are, they will be readable here without subscribing.
An organisation that will not tell you how to leave a list before you join it is telling you something. Ours is at the top of this page and in every message we send.
